Downtown Dubai
Brimming with life and always buzzing, Downtown Dubai combines its business and residential character with shopping centers, recreational areas, and relaxing green spaces.
Commanding the center of the area is the impressive Burj Khalifa tower, the tallest building in the world.
What to see in Downtown Dubai
The most striking point in Downtown Dubai is the imposing Burj Khalifa building which has a height of more than 2700 feet. The views from its observation deck are not to be missed.
The next essential attraction in this area is the Dubai Fountain. Measuring 900 feet long, the set of fountains is accompanied by a state-of-the-art light and sound display similar to that seen at the fountains of Bellagio in Las Vegas. In fact, this is because the same design team is behind both these famous landmarks.
Next to Dubai Fountain is Old Town Island, a delightful area of snaking streets and charming interior patios which together form a genuine village inside the city.
Here you will also find the largest shopping center in the world, Dubai Mall. The center has an impressive aquarium, playgrounds for children, an Olympic size ice skating rink and enormous spaces dedicated to fashion and eateries.
The star of Dubai
Currently, Downtown Dubai is the best place in the city for both accommodation and for appreciating the scale of what Dubai has to offer in terms of both business and leisure.
If your budget stretches far enough then The Address Downtown and The Palace Downtown are both incredible hotels.
